Akridge wins Buzzard Point eminent domain case. Here’s how much D.C. will have to pay.

A D.C. Superior Court jury ordered the District to pay $32 million to D.C. developer Akridge for land it seized to build D.C. United’s new soccer stadium in Buzzard Point.

The judgment, handed down May 31 after an eight-day trial, eclipsed the $21.1 million the District argued was just compensation for the 89,251-square-feet parcel owned by Akridge affiliate SW Land Holder LLC. The price works out to about $44 a buildable square foot.
